Over 25 years of experience in the global shrimp industry. Resolutely entrepreneurial, he is driven by business development and the creation of synergies between the different global players in the shrimp industry. He founded Grupo Mahr in 1998 (dedicated to Shrimp Hatcheries and Shrimp farming in Mexico), which joined forces with Groupe Grimaud, France, in 2013 to found Blue Genetics Mexico. Later, he initiates major strategic partnerships in the international development of the “Blue Genetics” brand: with BMR Industries in India and more recently the merger with Sea Products Development, Texas, to strengthen Blue Genetics as a major player in shrimp genetic selection.

Working with Blue Genetics since 2014. He has a master’s degree in science with a major in Marine Resource Management, from Centro Interdisciplinario de Ciencias Marinas, in La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico. Bachelor of fisheries biology with specializing in aquaculture, from Universidad de Occidente, in Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico. More than 20 years of experience in shrimp aquaculture. Expert in all shrimp production phases as maturation, PL rearing, nurseries, semi-intensive, intensive and hyper-intensive grow-out systems, bio floc technologies and shrimp breeding programs in Mexico and Asia. In the last years, Cristhian has closely participated in the development of Blue Genetics’ Golden Resistant line, which is one of the best shrimp resistant line worldwide.

Eduardo Figueras

COO / Blue Genetics USA

Eduardo has 3 decades of international experience in all aspects of shrimp production and is considered one of the top shrimp farming experts in the world. He has experience with several species of shrimp and is co-author of a book chapter on the technical aspects of shrimp rearing and reproduction. He is responsible for the day-to-day operations of both commercial production and the managing of the genetic program.
